Community & Connection

You are not alone. Find connection, support, and belonging with others who understand.

Why Community Matters

Living with an ostomy can feel isolating—but connection changes everything.

At STOMA-toba, community means sharing experiences, learning from one another, and building relationships that support confidence, wellbeing, and everyday life.

Building Community Together

STOMA-toba is in the early stages of building a province-wide community. We are creating spaces for connection, conversation, and support—and we are doing it together with the people who are part of it.

Whether through informal meetups, shared experiences, or future events, this community will grow with the voices and needs of those it serves.

What We’re Building

We are working toward creating opportunities for connection across Manitoba, including:

  • Informal meetups
  • Educational sessions
  • Peer support opportunities
  • Community-driven events

These will grow as our community grows.

Connection Starts Here

If you’re looking to connect with others who understand life with an ostomy, we’re here to help.

While our programs are still developing, we are committed to helping people find connection, share experiences, and feel supported.

Having an Ostomy does not limit you – unless you let it.What is it that you want to do more of in your life? And how can we help?I've been struggling with some very difficult decisions and have been letting myself succumb to the stress. I haven't been taking care of myself as well as I should be, mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually and boy can I tell! My massage therapist LindsayKay Massage Therapy told me that she's never seen me so tense, there's literally knots on top of knots and knots where there should be no knots. It's a sign. When I find myself out of sorts, unfocused and out of balance, I know the best medicine is my yoga room for intentional movement and meditation. Grounding. Focus. When I went in there tonight I couldn't remember the last time I was. No wonder I've been feeling like a sack of rocks. Time to get back to basics. Find balance. Practice what I preach. #zenzone #findingmyself #BalancedLiving #meditation #intentionalliving See MoreSee Less
